Description of Work
The M.F. Technician I conducts creel census interviews in the marine recreational fishery statistics survey (MRFSS) to determine fishing location, fishing time, catch, species identification, size and other biological parameters. The technician will organize, code, and compile data for computer storage and analysis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ability to communicate with fishermen, knowledge of local water bodies, the ability to identify fish and the ability to swim are required.
Training and Experience
Graduation from a community or technical college with an associate degree in fisheries management; or graduation from high school and two years of experience in the fisheries industry; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
